The Dead Sea Scrolls: a journey into the past

For thirty years I headed the Shrine of the Book and curated the Dead Sea Scrolls at the Israel Museum. Join me among the ancient texts that changed how we understand the Bible, Judaism and the beginnings of Christianity.

Who I am

Close to the scrolls, in plain language.

I worked alongside the Dead Sea Scrolls for many years, and I tell their story in plain, clear language. Even someone with no prior knowledge of the subject leaves my lecture with new insights and understanding.

It works with academic audiences, with students, in the community and with viewers at home: the journey to Qumran, to the caves where the scrolls were found, and to the people who wrote them.

About

From Buenos Aires to the Shrine of the Book in Jerusalem

I was born in Buenos Aires in 1957, studied anthropology and history, was ordained as a rabbi, and completed my master’s degree and doctorate in ancient Jewish literature and thought at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. For three decades I headed the Shrine of the Book at the Israel Museum.

I taught at the Hebrew University and at the Schechter Institute, lectured as a guest at leading universities around the world, and in 2011 led the project that made the Dead Sea Scrolls available to the public online.
